Most companies (ours included) quote per event rather than posting a flat menu, because the price depends on the booth style, hours, prints and extras you choose. What actually drives the price

1. Hours of operation

Most packages are built around 3 or 4 hours of booth time. The first three hours cover the bulk of the cost (equipment, attendant, setup, travel); each hour after that is cheaper. At Inception, if the booth is still busy at the end of your booked time, we can keep going at $125 per additional hour — you don’t have to decide in advance.

Setup and takedown are not part of your paid hours with us. We arrive about 1.5 hours early, set up for free anywhere in Edmonton, and tear down after your booked time ends.

2. Prints vs. digital only

Printing is the single biggest jump in price after booth type. A print booth needs a professional dye-sub printer, media, and an attendant to keep it running, which is why digital-only booths sit at the bottom of the range. Our standard print packages include 2 prints per session (2×6 strips or 4×6), with unlimited printing and 6×8 prints available as upgrades. Every guest still gets the digital copies either way.

3. Attendant or self-serve

Some low-cost “drop-off” booths are self-serve: the company sets it up and leaves. That works for a casual party, but for a wedding or corporate event an attendant is worth it — they manage the line, fix any hiccups, hand out props and keep the energy up. Our classic printing booth always comes with at least one attendant.

4. Date and season

Saturdays from May through October and the December corporate-party season are the busiest weeks of the year in Edmonton. Booking a Friday, Sunday or an off-season date is the easiest way to get a better rate and better availability. Book early either way — popular Saturdays are often gone 6–12 months out.

5. Add-ons

This is where two quotes with the same headline price can end up $300 apart. Common extras and what they typically add:

• Custom backdrop or sequin wall — often included, premium options extra. See our backdrop options.
• Scrapbook / guestbook — assembled on site and handed to you at the end of the night.
• Extra hours — $125/hr with us.
• USB drive of your gallery — $25 (a shareable online gallery is always included).
• Idle time — a paused period during dinner or speeches, usually billed at a reduced rate.
• Custom photo template design — included in our packages; some companies charge extra.

Travel: Edmonton vs. surrounding areas

Travel to Edmonton and our core communities — Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Leduc, Spruce Grove and Stony Plain — is normally included in our quote. For venues farther out (Fort Saskatchewan, Camrose, Red Deer, Whitecourt, Lloydminster and beyond), a travel fee may apply; it’s custom quoted for your venue and shown up front so there are no surprises. We regularly do events across all of these, so don’t let the distance stop you from asking.

Things that should be included (check before you book)

When you compare quotes, make sure each one covers the same list. A cheaper quote is not cheaper if you’re paying for these separately:

• Setup and takedown outside your paid hours
• An attendant for print booths
• Props (ours are washed and sanitized between every event)
• A custom-designed template matching your event
• Live-view screen so guests can see themselves before the shot
• Digital copies of every photo via an online gallery
• Proof of insurance and a business licence — venues increasingly ask for both

How payment works

Most Edmonton companies, including us, take a deposit to hold your date. Ours is 50% at booking, with the balance due 48 hours before the event, payable by e-transfer, credit card, cheque or cash. The deposit is non-refundable because it takes that date off the market for everyone else.

Is a photo booth worth it?

For a 150-guest wedding, an $800 booth works out to a little over $5 per guest for 3 hours of entertainment plus a printed keepsake every guest takes home. It’s consistently one of the things guests remember most, and for corporate events, branded photos that guests share are marketing you’d otherwise pay for.
